2019 Honda HR-V Review

Subcompact SUVs are popular in the Miami, Doral, and Hialeah area because they are big enough cars for family trips and carpooling, but small enough for you to easily park in the parking lot or driveway. The Honda HR-V is one of the most reliable SUVs on the market, and Honda recently made changes to the model to make it even more appealing. Read our 2019 Honda HR-V review to decide if it’s right for you.

Honda HR-V Trim Levels

Honda HR-V Trim Levels and Performance

2019 Honda HR-V ReviewHonda added Sport and Touring trim levels to the HR-V for the new model year, giving you more options to choose from. The 2019 trim levels are LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The Sport has 18-inch aluminum wheels, and the Touring boasts a luxurious look and high-end technology features.

The HR-V comes with a 1.8L inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) replaces previous iterations’ 6-speed manual transmission. With the CVT, you actually get more acceleration than you would with the manual transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard except for the Touring trim with its all-wheel drive.

The HR-V has great handling and gives a very comfortable ride. Its sturdy suspension absorbs most road imperfections with ease. The combination of the electronic stability system and responsive steering help you drive smoothly around tight corners.

Interior and Cargo Space

2019 Honda HR-V Trim Levels and PerformanceThe 2019 HR-V has a seating capacity of five people. Both rows offer excellent legroom, with 41.2 inches for the front seats and 39.3 inches for the back seats. Passengers will be grateful for the extra legroom on long car rides.

You get plenty of cargo area with 24.3 cubic feet of space behind the back row. When you fold the back seats down, you’ll get a maximum of 58.8 cubic feet to haul your camping gear or large purchases.

Honda has unique “magic seats” in the back row. You can tilt any of these seats up to reveal a lowered cargo floor. This setup allows you to place tall items such as plants in the back row for easier transport.

Technology and Safety Features

2019 Honda HR-V Technology and Safety One significant change for 2019 models is that a volume knob has been added to the infotainment system to replace the use of a touchscreen slider. This knob makes it easier for the driver to concentrate on the road while adjusting the volume. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ connectivity is also now standard in most trims.

Other technology features include satellite radio, heated mirrors and front seats, automatic climate control, and Bluetooth®. Check out the Touring trim for its navigation system and LED headlights.

All trims have a standard rearview camera. For the most safety features, go with the EX or higher trim, where both Honda Sensing® and Honda LaneWatch™ packages are standard. LaneWatch™ has a blind-spot camera on the passenger side that sends the footage to the touchscreen. Honda Sensing® includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Braking.
