That’s where Dream in Green comes in. This local non-profit organization encourages folks throughout the South Florida area to take charge in preserving our environment.

The Mission of Dream in Green

Since 2006, Dream in Green has stood by its mission to “empower individuals, especially youth, to lead in the response to climate change and other environmental challenges facing South Florida.”

To accomplish this feat, they work with numerous local organizations, schools, local governments, households, and businesses, helping them reduce their environmental footprint.

With the help of over 300 unique schools, Dream in Green has helped reduce or offset 49.5 million pounds of carbon emissions.

Green Schools Challenge

One of Dream in Green’s biggest programs is known as the Green Schools Challenge. Here, they team up with K-12 students, teachers, and staff throughout Miami.

Students and staff are involved in creating and implementing various environmental and energy solutions within their schools. Through monthly challenges, teamwork, and group activities, they learn all about waste reduction, water conservation, and more.

The Green Schools Challenge is broken up into three sections: elementary, middle, and high school. Each section will have access to a complete guidebook, filled with lesson plans and activities geared towards your specific age group.

This program doesn’t just help the environment, it also can help schools improve overall efficiency and reduce their energy costs by 25 to 30%.

Apart from their school programs, Dream in Green also offers sponsorship options for local businesses. Sponsorships are offered in four tiers: platinum, gold, silver, and bronze.

Platinum Sponsor: Receive customized benefits tailored for their marketing needs, as well as branded marketing items, such as pens and water bottles. They also have the opportunity to become a keynote speaker at the Annual Awards Ceremony for the Green Schools Challenge.

Gold Sponsor: This tier receives an invitation to the Annual Awards Ceremony for the Green Schools Challenge, plus the ability to support four schools in the Green Schools Program.

Silver Sponsor: This group is also invited to the Annual Award Ceremony for the Green Schools Challenge and will be able to support two schools in the Green Schools Program.

Bronze Sponsor: Bronze sponsors will have their logo recognized on Dream in Green’s website, as well as any Dream in Green events.
