Is there anything else about performance to split the pair? The defining difference stems from their drivetrains. Toyota only offers the C-HR with front-wheel drive. The Honda HR-V also comes with front-wheel drive but can be had with a Real Time AWD system featuring an Intelligent Control Systemâ„¢. The Honda AWD format will deliver far more traction in wet or slippery conditions than the front-wheel architecture of the Toyota.
Stepping up to a crossover as opposed to a sedan offers the benefit of more interior space. That means traits such as passenger and cargo room become increasingly important when comparing the Honda HR-V and the Toyota C-HR. So, which one wins out?
Well, the cargo space comparison isn't even close. With the Toyota crossover, you're working with just 19.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 37 cubic feet of cargo room with that second row folded flat.
The Honda HR-V easily surpasses its opponent by offering 24.4 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the second row and 55.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity overall.
So maybe the Toyota crossover makes up for its limited cargo space by offering tremendous passenger room? Not exactly. The HR-V provides 98.7 cubic feet of total passenger volume, compared to the 84 cubic feet found in the C-HR.
