Honda CR-V Safety Features
One of the most important things to consider when researching a new vehicle is the safety features. When driving around Miami, Doral, and Hialeah, you’ll want to ensure you and your passengers are protected by the latest active and passive safety features available.
On this page, you’ll learn all about the safety offerings in the Honda CR-V, including:
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™
- Forward Collision Warning
To discover these and more confidence-boosting systems, continue reading the following Honda CR-V safety features guide from your friends at Braman Honda!
CR-V Honda Sensing®
While the majority of vehicles on the road today are equipped with a suite of safety features, only a select few receive the benefits of Honda Sensing®. The CR-V is one of these vehicles, supplying Honda Sensing® standard across all four trim levels. Let’s see what you’ll get.
Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™): CMBS™ can bring your vehicle to a complete stop in the event of a possible collision by applying brake pressure when appropriate.
Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM): By utilizing a small camera positioned behind the windshield, RDM works to monitor and detect safety markers, such as lane dividers. If the system detects the CR-V beginning to leave the roadway, it will send an alert to adjust steering.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow: Maintain a set following interval behind detected vehicles during highway driving. If the vehicle ahead comes to a stop, ACC will slow and eventually stop your vehicle as well. Once traffic starts moving again, your CR-V will continue to maintain the desired interval.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): The Lane Keeping Assist System helps when you unintentionally drift from your designated lane. If your vehicle begins to drift, you’ll receive both an audible and visual warning so you can get back on track.
Active Safety Features in the Honda CR-V
Apart from Honda Sensing®, the CR-V also offers several active safety features. What are active safety features, exactly? Great question!
Active safety systems work to prevent an accident or collision in the first place. As the name suggests, they’re always activated whenever you’re on the road. Furthermore, many of these systems are electronic and controlled by a computer.
The 2020 Honda CR-V comes equipped with tons of active safety systems. For instance, Vehicle Stability Assist™ with Traction Control works to keep your car stabilized while cornering. It can also aid in maintaining traction on slippery surfaces by regulating engine output and selectively applying the brakes.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is another active safety feature found within the CR-V. Here, TPMS will monitor and compare the rotational characteristics and rolling radius of each wheel and tire while you drive. It will then use this data to determine if any of the tires is largely under-inflated.
That’s not all. Check out some of the additional active safety components of the CR-V, such as:
- Electronic Brake Distribution
- LED Daytime Running Lights
- Brake Assist
- Multi-angle rearview camera
2020 Honda CR-V: Passive Safety Features
The opposite of active safety, passive safety features don’t go into effect unless they’re needed. If, let’s say, you’re involved in a collision, these systems will turn on to help minimize damage and reduce the risk of injury during impact.
Among them is the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure. This Honda-exclusive body design uses a network of front frame structures to deflect and absorb the energy from a frontal collision. In turn, the force transferred to the cabin is reduced and evenly dispersed to other involved vehicles, keeping everyone on the road a bit safer.
It’s not just the big things, however. Honda put great attention to detail in all aspects of their SUV, from the front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioning system to SmartVent® Front Side Airbags and advanced front airbags.
