2017 Honda HR-V vs. Jeep Renegade
In the world of subcompact SUVs, there’s certainly a lot to choose from. In this 2017 Honda HR-V vs. Jeep Renegade vehicle comparison, drivers from the Miami, Doral, and Hialeah areas will have the opportunity to learn about these two vehicles side by side.
Brought to you by Braman Honda Miami, we’ll take a closer look at the design, performance, and technology of both vehicles to help you decide which one may be right for you.
2017 Honda HR-V & Jeep Renegade Design
The interior of the 2017 Honda HR-V has been built using a variety of quality materials, including soft-touch surfaces. Front-seat passengers will enjoy the available leather-trimmed seats and easy-access controls. For cargo space, the Honda HR-V features 58.8 cubic feet of cargo volume, as well as a 2nd-Row Magic Seat® that folds completely flat and even with the cargo floor to accommodate long items, or folds up to provide more room for tall items.
Interior space isn’t necessarily a strong suit of the Jeep Renegade. With just 50.8 cubic feet of cargo room, space is already considerably more limited inside the Jeep Renegade, but the in-floor storage that could have provided some additional room is significantly reduced if you opt for the spare tire.
Other than storage, the rest of the Jeep Renegade design also seems to be limiting, such as the wide D-pillars by the back window that give the Jeep Renegade poor rear visibility.
Honda HR-V vs. Jeep Renegade Performance
In terms of performance, the 2017 Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade couldn’t be more different. The Honda HR-V is an exceptional all-weather on-road vehicle that provides plenty of power and remarkable fuel efficiency for the average adventure around Florida. Specifically, the 2017 Honda HR-V comes equipped with a 141-horsepower 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission system.
The Jeep Renegade was designed for severe off-roading and has a price tag to match. Unfortunately, most drivers won’t need a lot of the additional capabilities that they’re paying for in the Jeep Renegade.
On top of that, because the Jeep Renegade was tailor-made for handling off-road driving, its on-road ride experience is bound to be less impressive to everyday drivers. Get the Jeep to speed and drop the throttle, and you’ll be waiting while the automatic transmission hesitates and then slowly downshifts.
Technology Features of the Honda HR-V & Jeep Renegade
Like most of the vehicles today, the 2017 Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade both share many of the same technology features. Bluetooth® streaming audio, hands-free calling, and helpful navigation are available in either model, but just how intuitive or user-friendly each system is will be up to you.
For instance, all of the controls in the Honda HR-V have been strategically placed around the cockpit where you’d expect them to be. The Jeep Renegade, on the other hand, has so many buttons and knobs that it seems to be battling to find space, hence why you’ll find the push-button start awkwardly placed on the steering column.
