Honda HR-V Maintenance Schedule

Honda HR-V Driving

From its design to its performance, everything about the Honda HR-V is unique, which is why drivers in Miami, Hialeah, and Doral love it. However, like any other vehicle, the Honda HR-V needs proper care and maintenance to extend its longevity and preserve its performance.

And now it’s even easier to provide your Honda HR-V with the care it needs thanks to the service center at Braman Honda in Miami and their guide to the Honda HR-V maintenance schedule below.

Understanding the Honda HR-V Maintenance Schedule

The maintenance schedule for the Honda HR-V isn’t like following a regular schedule in the owner’s manual. Instead, the vehicle uses Maintenance Minder™, an innovative system that alerts you when you need to schedule your next service appointment. It monitors the fluids, parts, and various systems under the hood and can sense when they need professional services.

When the system tells you to schedule your next service appointment, it will display specific codes on the instrument cluster of your HR-V. These codes let you know the exact services your vehicle needs.Honda Service Miami

Here’s a breakdown of what each Maintenance Minder™ code means for your Honda HR-V.

HR-V Main Codes

A Maintenance Minderâ„¢ code consists of a main code and subcodes. The main code will be an A or a B. If all you see is the letter A, then your HR-V only needs an oil and filter change. If the system displays the letter B, then your vehicle needs to have the following parts inspected on top of an oil and filter change:

  • Brakes
  • Brake hoses and lines
  • Suspension components
  • Fuel lines and connections
  • Exhaust system
  • Fluid levels and conditions
  • Tie-rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots
  • Driveshaft boots

HR-V Subcodes

The subcodes displayed by the Maintenance Minderâ„¢ system are numbers. When you see both a letter and a number displayed, then your HR-V needs all of the services listed for the main code and the subcode.

Here are the subcodes you’ll see in your vehicle and what they mean:

  • 1: Rotate tires.
  • 2: Replace air cleaner and dust and pollen filter and inspect drive belt.
  • 3: Replace transmission fluid.
  • 4: Replace spark plugs and inspect valve clearance.
  • 5: Replace engine coolant.
  • 6: Replace rear differential fluid.

Additional HR-V Maintenance

There are also additional services that you’ll need to schedule. These are independent of Maintenance Minder™ so the system won’t display alerts for them. One of these service items is replacing the brake fluid every three years.

You also want to make sure that your HR-V gets its idle speed inspected every 160,000 miles. Plus the valves have to be adjusted during services A, B, 1, 2, or 3 if they’re noisy.
